  • Summary:

A touching story of dogs in the disaster zone
A new Finnish graphic novel about the world’s most destructive nuclear power plant accident and about dogs that persevere in a zone abandoned by humans.
The Soviet Chernobyl nuclear power plant exploded on April 26, 1986. The accident caused extensive radioactive emissions and made the surrounding areas of the power plant uninhabitable. But even though people were evacuated, Chernobyl’s animals were left to their own devices.
Based on interviews and research, Dogs of Chernobyl tells the story of the Chernobyl accident and life in the closed zone in modern-day Ukraine through two dogs – Bobik and Gamma. The handsomely illustrated documentary graphic novel is a story about the tenacity of nature and man.
