Summary:
Tim and David are blackbirds who live in London, England, in an anthropomorphic world where animals, birds and reptiles have overcome their base desires to build mostly harmonious societies around the globe.
As children, Tim and David witness their father, an agent of the Anti-Predation Agency, stopping a cat from trying to eat some mice. This inspires them both to follow in their father’s footsteps.
Many years later, Tim and David excitedly join the Anti-Predation Agency, but, on Tim’s first mission, disaster strikes, and although Tim blames the terrorist involved, he also blames himself.
Cutting himself off from family, friends and colleagues, it seems as though Tim will carry the weight of the past around with him forever. But what will he do when he learns that he might not be able to trust those at the A.P.A. anymore? Can he find hope in a new group of friends that might just help him stop the same terrorist who destroyed his life years before?
