Summary:
In this graphic novel author Noël Ummels reflects on the life of his father, Pierre Ummels, who suffered from what we now call a bipolar disorder and who spent nineteen years of his life in a psychiatric institution. Despite the many setbacks and disasters that riddled his father’s life, and the difficult relationship he had with his children, Ummels writes about him with a certain literary levity that leaves room for sympathy. The artwork is lovingly drawn by Liesbeth Waijers, who was Pierre Ummels’ daughter-in-law.
