  • Summary:

The Cervi Family was and still is today a bastion of anti-fascist culture, told by Marco Paolini, Modena City Ramblers and Salvatore Quasimodo.

The seven Cervi brothers, thanks to the teachings of their Catholic parents, Alcide and Genoveffa, became noted for their progressive spirit towards agricultural work and for their attention to culture, organizing a traveling library to disseminate the classics and essays on various political themes to the population of the province of Reggio Emilia.

Of profound democratic inspiration, the entire family immediately opposed the fascist regime, hosting deserters and fugitives. The Cervi brothers decided to take up arms during the Resistance, creating a partisan band that soon became a bogeyman for the Black Shirts.

Their memory is still handed down today thanks to the work of the Cervi Institute and comes back to life in the evocative tables of this comic, also through the words of the territory itself which fondly remembers the figures of these young people who took care of him and who fought for the democratic values underlying our nation.
